If you haven’t heard about Bumble (@bumble), it’s about to change your dating life. This female-centric app has radically reinvented the approach to online dating by putting the first move firmly in the woman’s corner.
To prep for the madness of Valentine’s Day, we sat down with Bumble’s VP of Brand Content, Alex Williamson, for her insight into what it takes to nail the perfect dating profile photo. Here’s what she had to say:
1 - The no-makeup makeup look is a good way to go, but don’t be afraid of adding a pop of color to make your photo stand out.
2 - Your profile photo should definitely look like the you who will show up on the first date. There’s no need to over-filter. You are beautiful, and the right person or friend will be into you as you are.
3 - Enlist a friend to help you. Your friends see you in a different way than you normally see yourself.
4 - Selfies or overly staged photos aren’t as approachable as a candid. The best performing image will be the one where you’re caught in a happy moment and your smile is genuine.
5 - Don’t hide! It’s better to have a close-up of your face so people can see you. (No sunglasses, hats, distracting backgrounds or props.)
