Master Graphic Eyeliner in 5 Steps

The graphic eyeliner trend is on the rise and a great way to amplify your usual eyeliner routine! And the best thing about it is that you can experiment with various looks and products to find the styles that you love the most.

What is a graphic eyeliner?

Graphic eyeliner essentially involves adding to your eyeliner look using simple, solid lines or geometric shapes and colours. The name is based on how it is simple and graphic, achieved with bold lines rather than a heavily blended eye look with additional products such as shadows.

Which type of eyeliner is best to use for graphic eyeliner looks?

When it comes to graphic liner, a black liquid liner is the best way to go as it ensures smooth, pigmented lines. Using a liner that is also a pen can maximise precision and smooth application, such as our Perversion Waterproof Fine Point Eye Pen. This waterproof, highly pigmented formula can help to make sure your lines look as solid and jet black as possible to really get that iconic graphic eyeliner look.

How to apply graphic eyeliner in 5 steps

Step 1: It's best to start off with a clean base for graphic liner as the looks typically don't involve much eyeshadow underneath so that the eyeliner is able to better stand out. Taking your Perversion liquid liner, draw a line straight across your eye beginning from the inner corner to towards the outer corner. Stay as close to the lash line as possible to begin with to ensure precision - we can add to it later!

Step 2: Next, we'll focus on achieving the classic winged liner look as a base for the graphic liner. Draw a diagonal line up from the outer corner of your eye, using the end of your brow as a guide for the wing's angle. Then connect this back to the rest of the line and fill in the space.

Step 3: Starting from the very end point of the wing you just created, use the eyeliner pen to create a line extending inwards towards the inner corner of your eye. This creates a super simple, yet bold graphic eyeliner look that requires little effort for beginners, but makes a big statement that's different to your everyday eyeliner!

Step 4: Taking your Perversion black liner, it's time to go back in and build the thickness of the lines to make the look more bold, being careful to maintain the smoothness of the lines.

Step 5: To finish off your graphic eyeliner, great lashes are a must at bringing the whole look together. A great way to achieve this is by starting off with applying a coat of our Subversion Lash Primer which gives your mascara something to cling to before application, resulting in thicker, longer looking lashes. Then finish off by applying the Wild Lash Mascara for extra fluffy, buildable volume and long-lasting wear.

Graphic Gradient

Step 1: A fun way to level up your graphic liner game is to use eyeshadows to create a gradient look rather than using one solid colour. Our Wild Greens Eyeshadow Palette is a great option to achieve this look and create an earthy-toned, gradient graphic liner! First, start by dampening an angled eyeliner or eyeshadow brush slightly by spritzing our All Nighter Setting Spray to help increase the pigment of the eyeshadows for smoother lines.

Step 2: With our California-inspired, vegan-formula Wild Greens Eyeshadow Palette, start off with the darker eyeshadow shade Stash on your angled brush and line your eyes normally just above your upper lash line until the outer corners.

Step 3: Next take the shimmery olive shade Prickly from the Wild Greens palette and create a wing extending outwards with the angled brush.

Step 4: Following the same design as the basic graphic eyeliner look, bring this wing back inwards along your crease with the same eyeshadow shade until you reach halfway.

Step 5: Use the shadow Supergreens to finish off the line by bringing it inwards towards your inner-corner, then pick up some extra product to apply to the inner corner.

Step 6: Go back in with your angled brush and gently blend in where the different eyeshadow shades meet for a more seamless gradient effect.

Step 7: Smudge the shadow Stash into the lower lash line to darken it slightly.

Step 8: Complete your graphic, gradient liner look by adding our Wild Lash Mascara from the same collection to the lashes for fluffy volume!

The important thing to remember is the graphic eyeliner trend is all about experimenting and achieving that bold look with a bit of creativity.
