If you’re after bold eyeshadow looks, how do you get started? It can be difficult to know which shades to use and where to use them but getting your dream statement makeup look is easier than you might think. For the best statement eye makeup looks, read on, and follow our steps.
Before you begin, prime your eyes with our Eyeshadow Primer Potion, which helps keep your eyeshadow crease-free. This vegan primer is formulated with polymer technology and is the ideal foundation for both eyeshadow and eyeliner. It provides plenty of staying power too, so you can go about your day (and night) in confidence.
Crease: build up colour
Use our Naked X Robin Eisenberg eyeshadow palette to start building the structure of your eyeshadow. For the crease, you might want to use a matte neutral shade like Moon Sand or Mango Sun – apply the long-lasting colour with a brush through the crease, beginning with the highest point of the outside corner and working it backwards and forwards.
Then, blend the edges with circular motions to ensure there aren’t any harsh edges. Once you’re finished, it’s time to add some depth.
Crease: Add Depth
When adding depth, you’ll want to use a shade that’s darker than the one you started with – and the darker the colour, the more intense your statement eye makeup look will be. Using the Naked X Robin Eisenberg palette, shades that could be a good fit include Foxfire and Solar Storm.
No matter the colour you choose, apply it with backwards and forwards motions, running the colour along the outer third of the lash line. Then, keeping the same brush, use small circular motions to blend out the edges and connect the new shade to the original colour. They should meet, but the darker colour should stay lower than the first colour.
For your eyelids, consider using a shimmer, like Ice Crater or Alien Babe, or Ion for a gold eyeshadowlook. Using a brush, start in the centre of the eye and press and move slightly to apply the shade from the inner corner of the eye to the darker colour in the crease.
While these shades should overlap, be careful not to cover up the darker colour entirely – this is what creates the light to dark fade.
Don’t forget about highlighters as part of your bold eye makeup look. In fact, you can use the highlighter in our Stay Naked Threesome. This powder highlighter has intense staying power of up to 14 hours and a vegan formula infused with moringa seed oil. You’ll get a silky-smooth texture with a natural satin finish that’s never streaky or cakey, and there are three different shades to choose from.
Eyeliner: Waterline and Bottom Lash Line
Use an eyeliner like our 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil for your waterline and bottom lash line. There are over 30 shades and finishes to choose from, so you can get the bold eye makeup look that’s just right for you. Run the pencil along your lower waterline – a bright shade can be a great way to allow your eye’s colours to stand out.
Then, focus on the bottom lash line. For this, you might want to use a shade similar to the neutral-brown tone used to build up colour in the crease at the start of the routine. Diffuse the colour from the inner corner to the outer corner of your eye, going backwards and forwards.
You’re nearly finished, but don’t forget to round off your statement eye makeup look with our Perversion Mascara. It offers triple-black pigment, while volumizing and lengthening your lashes at the same time – and you’ll get a clump-free finish too! Just coat both your top and bottom lashes, and you’ll have completed your look.
Getting the statement makeup look you’re after is simple. Just use our Naked X Robin Eisenberg eyeshadow palette to get the results you want – with a range of shades and shimmers to choose from, you won’t be short of choice.
