READY, SET, FACE: HOW TO LOCK IN YOUR MAKEUP IN 3 STEPS

Looking for quick tips for setting makeup? You’ve come to the right place. We talk through how to set makeup by prepping your skin properly, applying setting spray and completing your routine with finishing powder. We also recommend some of our best products for the job to help you get started.

The first step in making sure your makeup lasts is starting with a good base. By preparing your skin before your makeup routine, you can give your products the best possible foundation to build off.

Cleanse your skin

If you have residual dirt and flakes on your face, these will likely pull your makeup off as they come off throughout the day. Cleanse your skin with a cleaner of choice and make sure to pat it dry before you get started.

Remember to exfoliate

Exfoliating helps to ensure you’re starting with a smooth base and gets rid of any dead skin before you start your makeup. Exfoliate gently at the beginning of your routine and rinse away before moving on to moisturiser.

Use a toner

For an added boost, apply a toner as part of your everyday skincare routine, too. This helps reduce enlarged pores and refreshes the skin without drying it out.

Make sure to moisturise

A good moisturiser is a must. It’ll help soften and hydrate your skin so you feel fresh while also giving your makeup a healthy base to work with.

Apply a primer

Just before you start your makeup routine, make sure to apply a primer. This helps prepare your skin for your makeup, smoothing out any fine lines while also providing an extra layer that your makeup products can secure to. Check out our range of primers to find the right fit.

Once you’ve perfected your makeup look, it’s time to move on to setting spray. This is a liquid product that creates a protective layer over your makeup to prevent smudging. There are a variety of different options available, with many featuring alcohol-based formulas for extra hold.

Our All Nighter Setting Spray is suitable for all skin types and gives up to 16 hours of hold. The patented Temperature Control Technology lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep it from melting while feeling weightless.

For those with oily skin, try the All Nighter Ultra Matte Makeup Setting Spray. It’s designed to absorb excess oil on the skin and reduce shine to give you a matte finish without drying out your skin.

Once you’ve chosen the right spray for you, apply in an X and TT formation on your finished makeup. Make sure to allow at least one minute for the spray to dry and you’re ready to go.

For extra hold, you can also apply a setting powder after your setting spray. Alternatively, choose one or the other depending on your personal preferences. Setting powder is particularly popular among those with oily skin because it helps to absorb oil and remove any excess shine.

Setting powder often includes ingredients like talc which complement wet makeup products to keep them in place while remaining gentle on the skin. Once you’ve finished your makeup and/or setting spray, take a brush and apply a generous coat of powder. Start at the centre of your face and work outwards, buffing small circles as you go. Make sure not to press too hard or you risk wiping your makeup off in the process.

Our All Nighter Waterproof Setting Powder is a weightless setting powder that makes your foundation totally waterproof for all-day staying power. It works perfectly with the All Nighter Setting Spray or as a standalone product and helps add extra luminosity to your look without the need to worry about reapplying your makeup throughout the day.

Got those tips down? Time to put them into practice! Get started with our All Nighter Setting Spray infused with Vitamin C and cactus flower.
