MAKE UP SETTING SPRAY GUIDE
The Best Setting Spray for Your Skin Type
No makeup artist’s kit would be complete without a setting spray. Just as a quick layer of topcoat can help your manicure last longer, a spritz of finishing spray can help prolong the life of your makeup, whether you’re soaking up a special occasion or the sun’s rays.

What does setting spray do?
As its name suggests, a good setting spray helps to keep your makeup in place, protecting against unwanted smudging and fading. Whether you’ve spent hours mastering your winged eyeliner or minutes on your makeup application, you don’t want your hard work to go to waste. Applying an extra effective layer of protection can keep your makeup looking as fresh as it did when you first applied it regardless of how sweaty your commute can be. In the summertime or on holiday, your setting spray follows closely behind your SPF in its importance.
What’s the best setting spray for your skin type?
Not all setting sprays are created equal. The right one can not only help prevent water or sweat from making your makeup slide off, but can also lock in moisture and create your favourite matte or dewy finish. As with your favourite skincare, you should choose a setting spray suitable for your skin type.

The best setting spray for dry skin
Those with dry or sensitive skin should look for setting spray formulas packed with hydrating ingredients such as cactus water to help keep your dermis happy and stop it from drying out or becoming irritated. Don’t spritz too much either. A light dusting of the product will keep your look from fading without stripping dry skin of moisture.
For a dose of protection, hydration and radiance, choose Urban Decay All Nighter Vitamin C Setting Spray. Its vegan formula is enriched with cactus flower water to instantly hydrate dehydrated skin while locking in your makeup for up to 16 hours. It’s also Urban Decay’s first setting spray powered with vitamin C to boost your natural glow and increase makeup vibrancy.

The best setting spray for oily skin
Anyone with oily skin knows, there’s a fine line between a glowy finish and a shiny one. To keep your makeup from sliding off mid-afternoon, look for mattifying setting sprays that help oil control and prevent shine. Urban Decay All Nighter Ultra Matte Makeup Setting Spray can be worn alone to stay shine-free on makeup-free days as well as to help your makeup stay put for up to 16 hours. Its breathable lightweight mist refreshes skin while setting your look and providing a matte finish.
Oily skin types can also benefit from a quick spritz of setting product before applying your base. It can help to remove excess oils, set your foundation for longer wear and prevent a future makeup meltdown.

Something for everyone
For serious staying power that works on every skin type, including combination, dry and oily skin, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is our OG and the UK’s #1 premium setting spray for a reason**. Its Temperature Control Technology and weightless vegan formula help to lower the temperature of your makeup to keep it looking fresh and vibrant for hours of wear.
How to use setting spray
After applying your look, grab your favourite setting sprays, shake and spray your face two to four times in an “X” and “T” formation – it will make sure your T-Zone is sufficiently covered. Hold the bottle around 8” away from your face and close your eyes before application to keep the finishing product out of them.
If you’re heading to an all-day or all-night event or have oilier skin, stash your spray in your bag to top up for a refreshing mist and long-lasting wear.
You can also use setting spray to intensify your eyeshadow colour, help it to last even longer or create a handy substitute if you’ve misplaced your eyeliner. Simply spray the setting spray onto an eyeshadow brush to dampen, then dip into your preferred shade and apply to your lid or lash line. Use an angled brush for a more precise flick or line.
