This Mother’s Day, let’s all recognize and celebrate the moms in our lives who constantly inspire us and educate us—and, ultimately, show us how to be badass women.
We’ll start it off with two incredibly ambitious women who are mothers AND creatives. Here’s a little bit about them.

MEREDITH KAHN
Founder, designer and creative mind behind Meredith Kahn Jewelry and Le Petit Gem.
Mother of two.
Q- What does motherhood bring to your work? What does your career bring to motherhood?
Motherhood has brought an even deeper sense of purpose to my work. I am constantly building, but now I build for my kids instead of just for myself or my ego.
I started my business when I was 24 years old. When you are young and single, everything is about achieving success and having fun while doing it. While that is still a relevant approach, I now take more time to help strategize each move I make in my business. It not only becomes about providing for [my kids], but also about inspiring them to be creative and successful. I had a strong working mother who probably didn't realize it at the time, but she was making a big impression on me and my sister to also become strong working mothers.
My kids are both very creative, and sometimes being a creative is tough when it comes to achieving success. This world doesn't always praise creativity as much as it does other attributes or career paths. I want to show my kids that if they choose a path of creativity, they can be very successful and still stay true to their hearts.
Q- What’s the best advice you could give to your younger self?
Take your time. Life has many phases, and you should stop and smell the roses in each one.
Q - What’s your beauty secret?
WATER! There is nothing better than hydration—inside and out!! That being said, I am fighting the sands of time, and a great primer really helps fill in my fine lines. My eyes tend to make me look tired when they are naked. I use brown eyeliner and mascara instead of black. I am fair with brown eyes and very dark brown hair, so the softness of the brown brightens my eyes and opens them up.

ANN-MARIE HOANG
L.A.-based wardrobe stylist and visual tastemaker.
Mom to Jupiter Rose.
Q - What does motherhood bring to your work? What does your career bring to motherhood
Motherhood reminds me that in addition to my work, I have an explorer of the world who’s waiting to roam. My career makes me appreciate the value of an individual creative space.
Q - What’s the best advice you could give to your younger self?
Hakuna matata.
Q - What’s your beauty secret?
Sunnies and red lipstick.
